Account Setup
Configure your RTC Collector account to match your preferences and needs.
Profile Information
Username
Your username is your unique identifier on RTC Collector. It's displayed when you share collections or interact with other users.
- Changing Your Username: Navigate to Settings > Account > Username
- Cooldown Period: 30 days between username changes
- Requirements: 3-30 characters, letters, numbers, hyphens, and underscores only (case-insensitive)
Email Address
Your email address is used for:
- Account verification
- Password resets
- Important notifications
- Weekly digest emails (if enabled)
To change your email:
- Go to Settings > Account > Email
- Enter your new email address
- Click "Update Email"
- Verify the new email address via the confirmation link
Password
For security, we recommend:
- Minimum 12 characters
- Mix of uppercase and lowercase letters
- At least one number
- At least one special character
To change your password:
- Go to Settings > Security > Password
- Enter your current password
- Enter your new password
- Confirm your new password
- Click "Update Password"
Notification Preferences
Customize which notifications you receive via email.
Email Notifications
Toggle individual notification types:
- Marketplace: Offers, transactions, shipping updates
- Messages: New messages from buyers/sellers
- Social: Friend requests, collection shares
- Security: Login attempts, security alerts
- Weekly Digest: Summary of your activity (sent Mondays)
Configure in Settings > Notifications > Email Preferences
Privacy Settings
Collection Visibility
Control who can see your collection:
- Public: Anyone can view your collection
- Friends Only: Only approved friends can view
- Private: Nobody can view your collection
Activity Visibility
Choose what activities are visible to friends:
- Item additions
- Marketplace listings
- Transactions
- Value changes
Session Management
View and manage active sessions across all your devices.
Active Sessions
See all devices where you're currently logged in:
- Device type and browser
- IP address and location
- Last activity timestamp
- Current session indicator
Revoke Sessions
To log out of a specific device:
- Go to Settings > Security > Sessions
- Find the session you want to end
- Click "Revoke Session"
- The device will be logged out immediately
If you see unfamiliar sessions, revoke them immediately and change your password. Consider enabling two-factor authentication for additional security.
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
Add an extra layer of security to your account with time-based one-time passwords (TOTP).
Setting Up 2FA
- Go to Settings > Security > Two-Factor Authentication
- Click "Enable 2FA"
- Scan the QR code with your authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Authy, etc.)
- Enter the 6-digit code from your app
- Save your backup codes in a secure location
Store your backup codes in a safe place. If you lose access to your authenticator app, you'll need these codes to regain access to your account.
Removing 2FA
If you need to disable 2FA:
- Go to Settings > Security > Two-Factor Authentication
- Enter your current password
- Enter a 2FA code from your app
- Click "Disable 2FA"
Sign in with Google
You can link your Google account for faster sign-in:
- Go to the login or registration page
- Click Continue with Google
- Select your Google account
- If you already have an RTC Collector account with the same email, it will be linked automatically
- If you're new, an account is created using your Google profile details
- You'll be prompted to choose a username on first sign-in
You can use either Google sign-in or email/password after linking — both methods work.
Biometric Authentication (Android)
On the native Android app, you can enable fingerprint or face unlock:
- Go to Settings > Security
- Tap Enable Biometric Login
- Verify with your fingerprint or face
- Your credentials are stored securely in your device's keychain
Once enabled, tap Use Biometric on the login page to sign in without typing your password.
