History Timelines

Browsing Timelines

Access history content from the Library section of the app:

  1. Go to LibraryHistory
  2. Choose between Platforms and Manufacturers
  3. Select a timeline to explore

Each timeline spans multiple decades and shows key events, product launches, and milestones for a specific platform or manufacturer.

Interactive Timeline View

The timeline interface provides several navigation tools:

Timeline Track: A horizontal track showing events plotted chronologically. Scroll left and right to move through time.

Era Markers: Coloured sections that group events into eras (e.g., "8-bit Era", "16-bit Era", "Modern Era"). Each era has a label and date range.

Zoom Controls: Zoom in for more detail on a specific period, or zoom out for a broader overview.

Minimap: A small overview bar at the bottom showing your current position within the full timeline. Click anywhere on the minimap to jump to that period.

Timeline Events

Each event on the timeline shows:

  • Title: Name of the event (e.g., "Commodore 64 Released")
  • Date: When it happened
  • Description: Brief summary of the event
  • Significance Level: How important this event was (shown visually)
  • Image: A representative image where available

Click on an event to see its full details, including links to related articles and external sources.
